Bigger beads, more presence. If you've seen our petite beaded chain and wanted something more visible, this is that chain.

Chunky 1.5cm beads — untreated natural beech wood paired with soft silicone accent beads — threaded on strong nylon cord and finished with a varnished safety bead so nothing comes off.

Suitable for babies of all ages.

At 23 grams it's the most substantial chain we make, about the weight of five grapes, and tested to the same standard as everything else in the range.

Ten colourways, all built around natural beech wood: white, pink, blush, blue, blue steel, grey, sage, all natural, and two with a flower bead.

What it's made from

Untreated natural beech wood beads with silicone accent beads, each around 1.5cm, on strong nylon cord, finished with a varnished safety bead.

The clip is strong stainless steel with plastic teeth so it holds clothing without damaging it. Metal components are imported from Germany. The wooden top is flat and smooth for laser etching, left raw with no paint or varnish.

Why beech wood, and why untreated

Beech is hard enough not to splinter and close-grained enough to stay smooth. We leave it untreated because a coating is one more thing that can chip, and because a dummy chain lives on a baby all day.

That thinking goes back to 2015, when Susan — a nurse on maternity leave — made the first clip for her son Ollie. A small team of mums in Victoria, Australia still makes every one.

Safety

Our completed dummy chains have been independently laboratory tested and certified as passing EN 12586:2007 + A1:2011, Child use and care articles — soother holder, the standard recommended by the Australian and European competition and consumer commissions.
