Wide Cotton Dummy Clips – Personalised Dummy Chains
Our most popular dummy chain, and the one most parents choose.
The wide cotton chain snaps at two lengths. Longer when the dummy is in use, shorter when it isn't, so it doesn't dangle down towards the floor between naps. The plastic snaps also mean you can take the chain off without pulling the dummy out of a sleeping baby's mouth — which, at two in the morning, matters more than it sounds.
At 2cm wide it's the broadest cotton chain we make, and at 11 grams still light enough that it won't drag the dummy out of your baby's mouth.
Etch your baby's name into the wooden clip, choose one of our designs, or leave it plain. Ten styles, including three grey chains with white, pink or blue snaps, plus blush, navy, beige, monochrome, khaki, mustard and sunshine yellow.
What it's made from
Hand sewn from 100% cotton, 2cm wide, with strong plastic snaps that let you clip the dummy on and off easily and set the chain to either length.
The clip is strong stainless steel with plastic teeth so it grips clothing without damaging it. Metal components are imported from Germany. The wooden top is flat and smooth for laser etching, and left raw — no paint or varnish, nothing to wear off into small hands.
Weighs eleven grams. About two grapes in weight.
Every chain can be matched to a BIBS dummy colour. Email us if you'd like a hand pairing them up.
Eleven years of making these
The first one was made in 2015 by Susan, a nurse on maternity leave, for her son Ollie — because every dummy clip she could buy was bulky enough to pull the dummy straight out of his mouth.
Everything is still made by a small team of mums in Victoria, Australia. We buy nothing ready-made. The cotton, the snaps and the German clip hardware are chosen by us and laboratory tested to meet all important safety standards. Only the best for you and your baby.
Safety
Our completed dummy chains have been independently laboratory tested and certified as passing EN 12586:2007 + A1:2011, Child use and care articles — soother holder, the standard recommended by the Australian and European competition and consumer commissions.
Our clip design is registered. If you want to know what that testing actually involves — the 10kg weight, the 1,000 open-and-close cycles, the 22cm limit — we've written the whole thing up here. Australian legislation and safety standards are here.
Care
Please read our safety and care instructions before use, and check the chain and clip before every use. Only ever clip onto thin material — clipping onto a jumper or the thick edge of a bib stretches the clamp and shortens its life.
Want something slimmer? The Petite Cotton chain is 1.2cm with a loop end that fits every dummy.
